Hello, Daniels Middle School Parents and Students!

My name is Christina Rush, and I am so excited to be working at Daniels for my 11th school year! I am a native of Raleigh, NC and attended East Carolina University (Secondary English Education degree) and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Master's in School Counseling). I consider myself a proud member of the "Pirate Nation." My husband, my sister, my brother-in-law, and my parents are all ECU graduates! My husband and I have two lovely children, Chloe James and Braxton, who are both students in the Wake County Public School System. My educational philosophy is that all children have worth and dignity, and should be treated as the valuable persons that they are. I work with my students the entire three years that they are at Daniels, and I love to remind them that as they travel to each grade, I get to go with them! My role as a school counselor is to partner with all of my students, as well as with their parents.  I look forward to continuing to work with my students in the academic, personal, and social/emotional domains; nurturing the development of the "whole child" is the perspective that I believe is most important.

This particular school year I am happy to welcome my incoming 6th Grade Blue Jackets. I look forward to meeting them, and I am so excited about the prospect of beginning a new 3 year partnership with these students and their parents! I will send out updates at least once a quarter about how the Daniels School Counseling/Student Services Program is making an impact on the 6th Grade students. Two areas of focus will be: Goal Setting & Monitoring and Coping Skills. The students should show some growth in both of these areas this school year. Thank you for partnering with me in having a wonderful 2017-18  school year!
